It was a case of horses for courses in division two of the Peadar Kearney’s Pub Handicap at Bellewstown as Plugged In quickened impressively on the outer for a wide margin victory to complete a 77/1 double on the evening for Nathan Crosse.
The Jim Gorman-trained gelding gained his only previous success over this same course and distance last August and struck form here again with a vengeance.
The 12/1 chance was held up from a wide draw and put the race to bed with some style inside the final furlong, striding five lengths clear of The Bog Bank
Gorman, whose main job these days is as assistant to Luke Comer, said: “He won here last year and likes it here. He was drawn 18 so it’s hard from there and we decided to drop him in and it’s worked out.
“I only have two in my own name to train at the moment. My son Cathal does a great job and rides them out every morning.”
Crosse was also on the mark earlier aboard Fleetfootsoldier (5/1).
