First reserve Donnrua Dream caused a 33/1 upset in Limerick's D Pack Packaging Handicap Hurdle scoring on handicap debut for trainer Gavin Cromwell and jockey Philip Dempsey.
Placed on bumper debut at Clonmel last April, the son of Sans Frontieres today made his handicap debut rated 89 and having travelled well through the race, battled well on the run-in to hold runner-up Kingston Kid by a length and a quarter.
Cromwell was at Leopardstown where his Flooring Porter was second in the Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle and Dempsey later said “he travelled brilliantly through the race and I was taking him back everywhere but the horses in front we stopping and I ended up being there too soon.
“He idled moreso than anything on the run-in and I think if horses came to me he'd have picked up again.
“He had good form early in his career but disappointed a bit over hurdles but it was nice to get his head in front.”
