Gavin Cromwell’s golden run continued at Sligo as Lucky Road landed the RSS Document Handicap Hurdle in impressive fashion.
The County Meath trainer has sent out 15 winners on both sides of the Irish Sea in the past 11 days having also recorded a double at Perth this afternoon.
Cailean’s Angel set the pace in this 2m4f event but the 11/4 favourite was headed at the penultimate flight by Lucky Road.
The 11/2 chance, who was upped in trip here on his second handicap outing, soon asserted under Conor McNamara and stayed on well on the run-in to beat the ‘jolly’ by all of nine lengths. Canadian Steel finished a further two and a quarter lengths adrift in third.
Lucky Road is owned by the enthusiastic Louth-based Lucky Seven Syndicate who were out in force on track to celebrate the victory.
