Wavelength and Lou Trek fought out the bumper in Roscommon with the former edging ahead by a neck, under Barry O'Neill, close home.
The winner went off the 9/10 favourite on the back of a third place on debut at Listowel.
Pat Kelly 's runner-up was well backed from 4/1 to 5/2, with Patrick Mullins in the plate.
Winning trainer Gavin Cromwell said: "I didn't know whether he'd get through the ground.
“It's nice to get that for the owner. Hopefully it's a good start for him.
“It was a lovely run the first day and he didn't get the best of luck in running. He was doing his best work at the finish.”
