The well-fancied Count Of Carabass and Alanna Bheag seemed to go pretty hard up front in the Dundalk Racecourse Of The Year Handicap and it was left to the 'finisher' Wishyouwerehere to gain the day under Niall McCullagh.
Count Of Carabass took over inside the final two furlongs and drifted left over to the rail a furlong out. Under a strong drive from Danny Grant, that Ad Valorem gelding couldn't resist Wishyouwerehere (drifted left herself too inside the last) who got up close home to triumph by three parts of a length.
Another 'closer' Political Policy took the third spot, another half a length back.
"It was good to get it as we bred her. She is what she is and in races like that you've got to keep going.
"It'll keep the owner (wife Aileen) happy and it'll make the trip back worth it," remarked successful handler Eddie Lynam in the aftermath. (GC & EM)
