Fairy Court s brave bid from the front came up short in the Winter Racing At Dundalk Handicap (Division One) as Cottesloe (3/1, from at least double that this morning) came through to land the spoils under Declan McDonogh.
They never got near Fairy Court here two weeks back but on this occasion he got caught inside the last and was eclipsed by three and a quarter lengths by Cottesloe.
McDonogh said of the Charles O'Brien handled Cottesloe, owned by his mother Jacqueline and bred by his late father Vincent: "Halfway down the back straight I said to Joseph (rider of the eventual third Habesh that I thought the one in front had got away a bit.
"This fella stays well though and he likes to get a bit of light." (AM & EM)
