Cooper rides first winner
Bryan Cooper, seventeen year old son of trainer Tom Cooper, partnered his first winner as a jockey when taking the opening Cahir Mares Maiden Hurdle at Clonmel today on his father's Rossdara
Cooper produced the daughter of Flemensfirth to lead before two out, and although drifting to the stands' side approaching the final flight, stayed on well for a four lengths win over Prairie Call
Afterwards Cooper Snr stated “I'm delighted for Bryan as he has had numerous placed horses on the Flat before now. He is still based with Kevin Prendergast, and while he is growing all the time, will continue to ride on the Flat next season.”
Regarding Rossdara, Cooper mentioned “she jumped impeccably and just showed a little greeness approaching the final flight. She did it well, taking on a lot of experienced rivals. She'll be aimed at mares' races now and we'd love to get blacktype for her eventually.”
