Coogan makes a Winning Impact
Winning Impact from the Jimmy Coogan stable lost his maiden tag on the second time of asking when taking the Naas Hurling Club Fundraiser Maiden in the hands of Declan McDonogh.
McDonogh who made his move under the two furlong marker kept on well under a strong drive to get up and lead close home and deny the gambled on Jumbo Steps (12/1 - 33/1) by half a length.
Winning trainer Coogan said afterwards: “The win was a real family affair, he is owned by my brothers [Bengy Coogan] sister-in-law Beverley Westermann who lives in Germany.”
“He had a nice debut run at Dundalk when finishing fourth he would have appreciated the bit of ease in the ground here this evening.”
“It was grand to get the win and we’ll play it by year now.”
