The Conyngham Lodge training partnership of Tracey Collins and Michael Halford followed up a treble at Dundalk on Wednesday with a 24/1 plus double this evening as Limestone Red took the concluding Bar One Racing ‘Check Out Our Weekend Offers’ Handicap.
The son of Cotai Glory was stepping up in trip to this extended ten furlongs on just his second handicap start and overnight quotes of 14/1 were soon snapped up and he was backed at all rates going off a 5/1 shot.
Billy Lee ’s mount made headway to lead just over a furlong out but soon veered right and bumped the runner-up Hasten Slowly
A length separated the pair at the line with Eloxi a further three and a quarter lengths back in third. The result was confirmed following a stewards enquiry.
Collins explained the improved form saying, "Cheekpieces and stepped him up in trip. He was just idling a little bit at home and we put the cheekpieces on him and they actually helped him to go forward.
"I can't explain him jinking, it is a horrible (wet) night. If you were running into that, you might jink to the side too.
"The horses are running really well and are in great form. They are in good order, thank God, and we are delighted."
