Conrad Hastings got his career back on track when making a smooth transition to fences in the Mid Summer Monday 26th June Race Evening Beginners Chase at Kilbeggan.
The Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding looked useful when winning a Tipperary maiden hurdle on debut last year but had rather lost his way since.
However the 7/1 (from 10/1) chance took control after the second last here under Davy Russell and eventually came home 17 lengths clear of Tesseract who just edged out Supreme Vinnie for the runner-up spot.
The odds-on favourite Bamako Moriviere set the pace until falling at halfway.
De Bromhead said, “He handled the ground well which is a bit of a surprise as Flemensfirth’s usually want an ease. He beat Don’t Kick Nor Bite in a maiden hurdle very easily but then got a bit lost.
“I’m delighted that he’s back on track, and he could go for the 2m6f winners’ race at Killarney next month. There is a lovely programme for novices.”
