Condon and Berry take opener
Bold Thady Quill took the opening Fairyhouse Summer Series Handicap for trainer Ken Condon under a fine ride by Fran Berry.
Berry was hard at work aboard the 9/2 shot from two furlongs out and he responded well to a strong drive by Berry to get up and lead on the run-in.
Winning trainer Condon said afterwards: “It was important to get the win out of the way for the owners as they have the mare at home and he’s the first foal so it’s great he won.”
“He has had two wind operations and it seems to have worked, he has plenty of ability and handles the fast ground well.”
“We will go for something similar a six or seven furlong handicap on fast ground.”
