The father and son team of Aidan and Donnacha O’Brien successfully combined as Conclusion gained a deserved win in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Limerick.
The son of Deep Impact had an uncomfortable experience at Gowran Park earlier this month when pulling both his front shoes but put that behind him here over this mile trip.
The 3/1 chance was soon in front, and stretched clear inside the final furlong to beat Iiex Excelsa by four lengths. Fridtjof Nansen couldn’t quicken early in the straight but kept on in the closing stages to finish a further length and a half away in third.
Donnacha O’Brien said, “He pulled his two front shoes the last day so he wasn’t comfortable. He was better today, he was sweeter and travelled better.
“He stays well. I got an easy lead in front so that kept it uncomplicated.”
