Coleman back in winner's enclosure
Kevin Coleman partnered his first winner since last St Patrick’s Day when steering the John Joe Walsh trained Diamond Shower to win the Charleville Handicap Hurdle.
Coleman, winner of the 2007 Galway Plate on Sir Frederick, has been hit by injuries in recent times and has ridden just 25 times this season but returned to his best when arriving with a well timed challenge for a five lengths win over Clancy Strand (deny Niall Madden Snr and Jnr a treble).
Afterwards Walsh stated “I thought the race may have come a bit too quick from Galway but I wasa trying for two months to get him into a hurdle race. Things went his way today as he was lucky not to get brought down at the third last.”
