Secret Rock gained a belated first flat success at Roscommon today, landing the concluding Sean Cleary Memorial Handicap to complete a double for jockey Ben Coen.
A beaten favourite on his last two starts, including when an even-money favourite at Limerick when last seen in April, the son of Fascinating Rock today was an easy-to-back 7/1 chance, arriving from off the pace to eventually score by a length and a half from Narlita
Winning trainer Tony Martin said “we can't put our finger on him, he's promised to do that but he didn't deliver until today. He won well over hurdles but it just hasn't worked completely for him. He's odd but it worked well today which is great.
“He's won over hurdles so he's well able to mix it.”
Coen's earlier winner was on the Johnny Murtagh-trained, Aga Khan-owned Hazalaya
