Ross Coakley produced To Choose with a storming run inside the final furlong to claim the Derek O'Sullivan Memorial Apprentice Handicap at the Curragh.
Tom Gibney 's charge got on top close home to record a half length victory over Prussian Eagle at odds of 14/1.
The dual-purpose performer had run well on his return to the level when fourth at Roscommon last time and is now set to stick to the Flat for the time being.
"I was a bit worried about the ground but we took our chance and ran as he was in great form. It worked out great," said Gibney.
"That's my first winner at the Curragh. I've been trying for a while and have had a couple of seconds.
"We'll keep him to the Flat for a while. I would love to get him into one of the big money handicaps but he might need to win another one.
"He's as solid as a rock and sound. He's the type of horse that fellas like me survive on."
