The Eoin Doyle trained Cliffside Park landed a gamble (6/1 in to 7/2) to win the concluding Waterford & Tramore Racecourse Ladies Bumper at Tramore today, under a fine ride from Rachel Blackmore.
Blackmore forced the son of Chevalier through with a challenge on the inner rounding the home turn, with the move saved the winner valuable ground and eventually helping him defeat 11/8 favourite Allez Gold by half a length.
Afterwards Doyle: "He is a grand horse and we fancied him here at the (August) Festival but he disappointed us but had sore shins after that run.
“We gave him one run over hurdles and Mickey said he wasn't happy on fast ground but with the ease in the ground he travelled better today.
“I'd say he could be a grand horse now and will go for a maiden hurdle next. Rachel gave him a very good ride.”
The winner is owned by Paul Mangan who owns Doheny & Nesbitt pub in Dublin.
