The John Joe Walsh trained Cliff House overturned a Willie Mullins trained hot-pot to win the Langton House Hotel Maiden Hurdle at Gowran today, under jockey Brian O'Connell.
Four to nine favourite Royal Caviar looked in a prime position entering the home straight but Cliff House gradually wore down the Mullins trained favourite and in the end beat off that rival, for a three and a half lengths win.
Afterwards Walsh stated "I had no confidence against Willie's (Royal Caviar) but he'd won two flat races.
"I've no plans and it was a case of get today out of the way first. He'd like better ground and has a good bit to learn about jumping but has a real good engine."
