Cleary Truly Genius at Dundalk

The Irish Stallion Farms EBF Auction Maiden caused a surprise when 33/1 shot Truly Genius came home in front under a fine ride by Rory Cleary.

Cleary settled his mount in rear and made his progress to join leaders entering the straight.

The Iffraaj gelding responded well to pressure to get up and lead close home and deny Expire by half a length.

Winning trainer Christy Donoghue said afterwards: “We always knew he was a nice horse but we thought he just might have needed the run.”

“He was a very cheap horse, we bought him in Goresbridge for €3,800.”
