Chukka does family proud
Royal Chukka ran out a convincing winner of the maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse under Andrew Duff.
Sent to the front two from home the 'Sneezy' Foster-trained gelding kept on strongly in the closing stages to record a three-length success over Wigger's Cross
"He's a nice horse and won his point-to-point impressively in the spring," said Foster.
"I wanted to go to the track with him to help the family as (owner) Ann (Smurfit) has the mare and I have all the brothers and sisters at home.
"We needed to boost the pedigree and I thought he would win at some stage. He did it well.
"He's not easy to train and had to have acupuncture last week. His chassis is a bit strange."
