Johnny Murtagh and Ben Coen were just denied in the opener with Ebanza but soon went one better when teaming up to take the New Sponsors Lounge At Gowran Park Maiden with Chicago Fireball
The 2/1 chance set the pace in this mile event and had his rivals stretched from well over a furlong out.
The son of Acclamation, who was gelded since placed on his seasonal debut at Dundalk last month, kept on really well inside the final furlong to score by nearly four lengths. Clever And Cute just held off 15/8 favourite No Knee Never by a nose for the runner-up spot.
Coen said, “I always thought he was well up to winning a maiden but a few different things didn’t go right.
“He was quite a gross horse when he was a colt but the gelding seems to have done the trick and he was good there today.”
