Odds on favourite backers had little to concern them as Chatham House Rule made all to comfortably land the opening Happy Mothers Day Hurdle for four-year-olds at Limerick for Gordon Elliott and Davy Condon.
The Gigginstown House Stud runner (9/10f) soon moved clear of main market rival Tarabiyn (15/8) in second, and the remaining four runners.
On the run to the home bend approaching two out Chatham House Rule had all his rivals off the bridle. Tarabiyn and Ruby Walsh attempted to bridge the gap and cut into it to the extent that they were four lengths down at the penultimate flight.
However, once the grey colt Chatham House Rule popped the last the game was up for Tarabiyn who had to settle for second, beaten two and a quarter lengths.
Davy Condon said: "He wants better ground and I'd say he'll run on the flat over the summer. He jumped well and the better the ground the better he'll be. The ground is tacky out there, and he'd not be in love with it.
"He jumped great and gave me a good ride the whole way round. He won without me having to get serious with him. Gordon is able to find these races for his horses. He'll be a good horse for the summer."
