Point-to-point winner Dushrembrandt made light of being pitched in among useful opposition on his hurdling debut when taking the three mile novice hurdle at Cork.

The six-year-old gelding, trained by Robert Tyner and ridden by Phillip Enright, joined long-time leader Dreaming On two out and looked booked for success.

However, treble-seeking Love Rory set off in pursuit coming to the last and was closing at the line but failed by a neck to reel the winner in.

Dushrembrandt was returned at 16/1 as punters piled into Hard To Swallow (6/4 to 11/10f) and Kostar (13/2 to 5/1). Hard To Swallow was fourth while Kostar fell at the last when third.

Love Rory (10/1) and Adrian Heskin were nine and a half lengths in front of Dreaming On and Mikey Butler (8/1) who finished third.

Robert Tyner said: “He’s a half brother to Sir Rembrandt [second to Best Mate in Cheltenham Gold Cup 2004]. We bought him as a raw three-year-old and he has done well in point-to-points.

“The change in ground today brought out the best in him. He loves these good ground conditions [hurdle track now yielding, good in places].

“We might come back here in a few weeks time. There’s a three mile novice hurdle in December and we’ll see what else is coming up.”

The winner paid 33.10 euro on the Tote.
