Cebuano made light of carrying three pounds more than he 'should' have when overcoming a dose of 'seconditis', winning the Ireland v England Stablestaff Soccer International Handicap at Dundalk this evening for trainer Michael Halford and stable jockey Shane Foley.
The gelded son of Fraam had previously won just one race but had filled the runner-up spot on 11 occasions and in today's event, raced from one pound out of the handicap with his rider Shane Foley getting down to 8st6lbs, two pounds above his declared weight.
Afterwards Halford stated “he's a very genuine horse but has just been meeting one too good. The small field helped him there and he had only 8st6lbs on his back.
He wouldn't want winter ground he has been on the go for a while and we might wait for the spring to go back hurdling with him.”
