There was plenty of incident in the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle but Paul Cawley managed to get a lovely run around on the inside all the way on 9/2 winner Brosna Rocco
The daughter of Shirocco was ridden in second entering the straight as 7/2 favourite Fair Minded travelled well at the head of affairs. The latter found very little in the straight, though, and Cawley drove his mount into the lead just before the last. She stayed on well to account for Courting Vickie by a length and three quarters. Brilliant Question and Springfield Lodge filled the frame as the flattering market leader weakened into fifth.
This was a second success for the consistent Brosna Rocco who got off the mark at Tramore a little over a year ago.
Winning trainer Sonny Carey, who rents some of Arthur Moore's yard in nearby Caragh, remarked: “I had her (entered) in Tramore but came here instead as she sweats a lot travelling.
“I’ve been trying her over two and a half but I shouldn’t have moved her from two (miles). She did that well.
“Paul (Cawley) gave her a very good ride. He’s a good rider and a lovely fella.
“She is what she is and we’ll find something similar for her.”
