Leading National Hunt trainer Henry de Bromhead is no stranger to success on the Flat and sent out Catena Zapata for a gutsy win in the Test Your Tipping Talents At Punters.Hollywoodbets.com Every Dundalk Meeting Race.
The Vadamos juvenile made most of the running under Billy Lee and dug deep under pressure from over a furlong out in this mile conditions race.
The 8/1 chance had a neck to spare over Dha Leath at the line, with newcomer Irwin just a half a length further back in third.
Lee said, "He did it nicely and improved a lot from the first day. He was very raw the first day when he was stuck on the outside and was rolling away from them. He came on a lot and stepping up to a mile suited him as well.
“I didn't really want to make it but didn't think there was much that would go on in the race. I didn't want to be going too slow and let it turn into a sprint. I ended up having to do my own work in front but when I got a hold of him and asked him to quicken turning in he picked up well.
“I thought they might have got me at the furlong pole but to be fair to him he kept sticking his head out.
“He's a lovely big horse, a lovely mover, and he should go ten furlongs no problem next year. He's one that should hopefully progress again.”
