David Marnane and MRC International have a Royal Ascot candidate on their hands with recent Tipperary scorer Lady Tilbury and the same combination were on the mark again as Cash Or Crypto took the opening Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden at Listowel.
The son of Fascinating Rock was sent off an unconsidered 22/1 shot here on debut but was prominent throughout under Mikey Sheehy and just needed to be pushed out with hands and heels to get on top inside the final furlong.
The €20,000 yearling purchase, a full-brother to a Stakes winner in the States, had a length-and-a-quarter to spare over Rumbled Again at the line with Reckoning Force finishing well just half-a-length back in third.
Marnane said, “He’s a nice horse and we have always liked him. He’s a May foal so he’s only just two and is very high behind so he’ll improve a lot. I think he’ll end up being a very good horse next year.
“He’s well related and we were surprised that we were able to buy him so cheap. I don’t think he wants extremes of ground and he will develop as we go along.”
