Carrig lands the punt
Carrigdhoun (10s into 15/2) landed a little bit of a 'touch' in the Newmarket Handicap Hurdle under 7Ib claimer Steven Clements (his first as a pro, 24-y-o from Newry), the grey staying on best to beat Quarryfield Lass by a length and three parts.
Ted Stanners trains this son of Goldmark for Jack Murphy. Based in Innishannon, Stanners worked for 23 years for Gordon Richards before training for George Ward cross-channel.
He commented in the aftermath of this win: "I needed it. He's a chaser but we wanted to try and win a handicap hurdle with him first.
"I have about ten in at the minute."
