Easy Vic has tested the patience both of connections and punters finishing second on no less than six occasions in the past 12 months but he finally came good when completing a double on the afternoon for jockey Paul Carberry in the 0-109 rated 2m5f handicap chase.

The ten-year-old gelding has been a bookies friend in the past but not today as he justified support from 4/1 into 3/1 favourite. Forever Gold 10/1 this morning and sent off a half those odds, threw down the strongest challenge on the run-in but Easy Vic held on by a head.

The pair stretched 11 clear on the run-in of Boss Croaker in third, with Rory’s Brother in fourth.

Winning trainer Tony Martin said, “The owner (Joseph Duff) has been a bit sick the last few weeks and that will give him a lift. I’m happy for him and he’s waited long enough on him. The horse deserves it. We’ll just try and find another one for him.”
