Cara Mara wins big prize
John Berry and Robbie Moran enjoyed a big success when their fine money-spinner, Cara Mara created a 20/1 surprise in the John Fowler Memorial European Breeders Fund Mares Chase.
Moran gained a narrow lead on the daughter of Saddlers' Hall two out where favourite Give It Time made a slight mistake (struggling at the time anyway). She then saw off the late bid of fellow Wexford mare, Shuil Aris on the run-in by three parts of a length.
Berry said afterwards: "She jumps and she gallops and we knew she'd stay. She was bred by my brother Mick and that's her sixth win now. She might make into a Thyestes mare for 2011. The Sherwood Syndicate own her and it includes Bill Bourke who is local to here."
