Captain Cobajay (5/1) was easy enough to back but continued his consistent run of form by taking the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase under Simon Torrens.
The Captain Rio six-year-old made it two wins and two seconds from his last five starts, leading before two out and going on to beat Daring Decree (8/1) by four and a half lengths, with the 5/2 favourite Steer Clear another half a length back in third spot.
“I was humming and hawing about running him because of the ground,” said winning trainer Eamonn 'Dusty' Sheehy.
“I kind of fancied him because of his experience even though he had went up plenty in the weights.
“He did it quite well and we'll see what happens now. He was probably the two mile horse in it and he's learnt from his few falls.
“He didn't jump as well today as he normally does though. It's great to get the win anyway.
“He's a summer horse and I was praying we'd get another couple of fines weeks but he's paid his way.”
