Canyon takes Cork opener

Championship leader Johnny Murtagh partnered his 16th winner of the season when taking the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Cork today on the Ger Lyons trained Greek Canyon

The son of Moss Vale, who was showing the benefit of two previous Dundalk fifth placings, made most of the running to eventually record a two lengths win over Busalla with 4/6 favourite and newcomer Among Equals finishing a well held seventh.

Lyons was not present for Greek Canyon’s win.
