Canadian Diamond a gem
Paul Nolan's Canadian Diamond stepped up on his initial run in a heavy ground Thurles bumper when taking Sligo's concluding two mile bumper with Mikey Fogarty in the saddle.
The winner sent favourite backers home happy after scoring at 9/4 by two lengths from Be All Man at 8/1 who cost 70,000 guineas as a foal and made a promising debut. Rematch at 9/1 finished a length further back in third.
Trainer Paul Nolan said: "This horse has been running way too freely. He has got plenty of ability but needs to learn to settle.
"He has been working well at home and will go hurdling. When the penny drops he'll make a nice hurdler for the summer."
