Campbonnais another Byrnes winner
Charles Byrnes recorded his first win since his Cyborg landed a big gamble at Ballinrobe on May 4, when his Campbonnais landed the ‘Tote Trifecta Rollover’ Handicap Hurdle at Clonmel today.
Ridden by Davy Russell, the son of Sassanian tracked the leaders and although he came under pressure after three out, relished every step of the two miles, eventually staying well to wear down Macra Na Feirme on the run-in.
Afterwards a delighted Byrnes stated “the ground obviously made a big difference to Campbonnais as he obviously hates soft ground. I have no ambitious plans for him.”
