Byrnes on the mark again with Jack
After his big success in the Kerry National with Alpha Beat, Charles Byrnes struck again at the Listowel Festival when Jack Cool justified the faith of those that backed him from 5/1 this morning into 2/1 favouritism for the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle. Cnoc Rua still held the call when falling three out leaving Jack Cool in front with a healthy advantage. This he was never going to relinquish and he went on the score by five lengths from Binocular
Byrnes said: "That was a comfortable win and the ground is the key to him. He didn't like jumping on the fast ground the last two days. Matthew (Bowes) carried out the instructions beautifully as I told him to take no chances."
Galway native Bowes, who is based with Oliver Brady, said: "He done it very well and my job was an easy one. Charles put cheek-pieces on him which helped him to travel.
"That's my 12th winner now and another three will see my claim down to 5Ibs."
