Burns strikes with Miss Parkington
Robbie Burns had a welcome winner in the concluding Ladbrokes Cheltenham Bumper Series (Pro/Am) Flat Race when the gambled-on Miss Parkington (33/1 into 20/1) came out best in a four way finish under Robert Jones.
Burns was without success since Davorin scored at Navan in September 2007 and not surprisingly in the circumstances he described the three parts of a length success of his wife Dianne's Bob Back mare as "badly wanted."
Coming into this contest Miss Parkington had the form figures 00 and Burns said: "She was wrong last year and I shouldn't have been running her. She is well-bred though and while her form didn't say much for her, I always liked her.
"I left her off (hadn't run since the 7th of July last year) and she came right. It's just nice to get a winner."
