Military who holds Group 1 entries, was a very warm order to make a winning debut at Naas and he duly did it in good style.
The 2/7 favourite was sent on past Mr Saturday a furlong and a-half down by Dylan Browne McMonagle and the Siyouni colt readily asserted entering the final furlong.
He was well in charge in the closing stages as he put two and three-quarter lengths on a staying-on runner-up Laugier Night (7/1).
This was a first winner for Browne McMonagle on an Aidan O'Brien horse.
O'Brien said: “He was working like a lovely colt. We knew that was probably plenty short for him but it was to get him out and get him started. He will come forward lovely from that.
“You'd be very happy with him. He could maybe go to the Middle Park or the (Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc) Lagardere.
“We knew he was a six/seven furlong type horse and he will be probably be a miler next year. We just needed to get him started.
“Dylan said he was very green, but he would have learned a lot there today.”
Among Military's big-race entries are the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket and the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes also at Newmarket.
