Division two of the Fairyhouse Committee Handicap Hurdle saw Davy Fitzgerald saddle a first winner since October 2018 when Hilltop Supreme completed a double on the afternoon at the County Meath venue for jockey Kevin Brouder.
Brouder was earlier successful aboard Light Brigade for Charles Byrnes and where as that 2/5 success was very much expected the 9/1 win for Hilltop Supreme was not as widely anticipated pre-race.
However the successful Mr Dinos gelding didn’t go totally un-backed and he shed his maiden tag at the 19th time of asking by three parts of a length from Memory Of Youth
The nine-year-old is better treated at this game than he is over fences and Fitzgerald commented: “It was long overdue, I thought he'd have won by now.
“He was well handicapped but we were worried about that heavy ground. Hopefully he'll win again as long as the handicapper isn't too hard on him.
“He has been running well over fences without winning. There is a 0-95 handicap chase in Down Royal in a fortnight's time and that's where he'll go next.”
