Available at 14/1 overnight and well supported prior to racing, An Epic Song (10/3 into 2/1 fav before the off) landed a touch in the Tote Supporting Punchestown Handicap Hurdle.
The Authorised gelding, a maiden winner at Gowran in March, raced in mid-division before moving into third on the home turn. He headed long-time leader Bigz Belief before the last and was ridden out by Darragh O'Keeffe to score by six and a half lengths from Bread And Butter (9/2) who claimed second close home from Bigz Belief (40/1).
After Panda Boy’s victory at Leopardstown, it was a second success of the week for winning trainer Martin Brassil who said: "He won well on that ground before and handles it really well.
“He stays well and I’d say they probably didn’t go a good enough gallop for him. He was a bit keen at times.
“He’s a horse with a bit of a future we hope, a big fine chaser. He has a nice pedigree and is out of a half-sister to Monsun.”
