Trainer Ger Lyons' decision to recommend his Brendan Brackan to new owners Qatar Racing got off to a good start at Cork today when their recent acquisition landed the Listed Platinum Stakes.
The five year old gelded son of Big Bad Bob, purchased for 145,000Gns last month from Lyons' other owners Anamoine Limited, maintained a clear lead, under Colin Keane, in the straight for a three and a half lengths win over Witches Brew
Afterwards Lyons stated “that was very important as I asked Sheikh Fahad to (Qatar Racing Limited) buy him back and I'd like to thank him for doing so.
“There is a train of thought that he is better going right-handed, with a tiny bit of juice but not on firm, firm. If he had that juice, I think he'd have held on in the Ballycorus Stakes.”
“He'll go pot hunting for the new crew (Qatar Racing) and will go for the Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown next week. He has some really fancy entries and his new owners are gonna have some fun with him and he's a rock solid Group 3 horse but needs all the luck in the world when stepped up. ”
