Bowe takes last with lesser fancied of his two
Pharney Lady the lesser fancied of the two Colin Bowe trained runners at 7/1, took the finale on the card at Limerick this evening, the Greenmount Summer Fun Flat Race with Mikey Fogarty in the saddle.
The daughter of Flemensfirth was making her career debut here, having not even run in a point-to-point, as is the case with many runners from the Colin Bowe yard.
The dam of the winner Pharney Fox, showed very little on her seven runs in the late nineties for John Paul Berry.
The 4yo winner raced in mid-division early on from a slow pace. She was fifth, five furlongs out and improved into second as they turned into the straight.
She responded well when ridden and moved into the lead a furlong and a half from home before staying on well to score. Missunited another making her debut, ran a nice race to finish two and a half lengths back in second at 20/1 for Michael Winters, while Life's Music at 33/1 finished a further three lengths back in third for her trainer Arthur Goulding. Millers Reef who was sent to post the 5/2 favourite, could only manage a disappointing fifth at the finish for winning trainer Bowe.
Colin Bowe said afterwards about his winner: "She has been only riding out five months. I thought she'd be a bit green.
"She will go for a winners bumper next."
