A drop back to two miles four furlongs worked the oracle for Gordon Elliott's Boston Jury (7/2) in the Linden Foods Maiden Hurdle at Down Royal.
He tussled with the 11/8 favourite How About No on the run-in but proved the stronger as he came home by a length and three-quarters in the hands of Jack Kennedy. Market-mover Rapparee Champ (11/2) finished half a length behind the runner-up How About No.
Assistant trainer Lisa O'Neill said: "I think the drop back in trip really helped him and today is an easier finish than the likes of Tramore.
"He has progressed with every run and is a lovely horse, and has plenty of filling into himself to do yet.
"Jack was very happy with him and he has plenty of potential. He travels quite sweetly as well under Jack, and he still showed a few signs of being raw and green. There is plenty of progress to come from him.
"The trip today really suited him and he had ideal conditions today."
