Boothen Boy (4/5f) made most of the running to land Downpatrick's opening Randox Health Maiden Hurdle today, scoring for trainer Gordon Elliott and jockey Jack Kennedy.
The son of Getaway was making his hurdles debut on his first run since March and while he did edge left at times, stayed on well to beat Dads Lad by two and a quarter lengths.
Kennedy later said "I didn't want to be in front to be honest but there was no pace, so we kept it steady.
“He's a lovely big horse and is still a baby. He's a big chaser in the making so whatever he does over hurdles is a bonus. He'll come on plenty from that, so he is one to look forward to.”
