The Jim Bolger trained Leagan Gaeilge overcame a wide draw in 14 to win at 14/1 on debut at Gowran today, landing the Thomastown (Fillies) Median Auction Maiden under stable jockey Kevin Manning.
Leagan Gaeilge's dam Feile Bride finished her career as a 49 rated, nine-race maiden but Bolger kept faith with a pedigree he knows very well, as Leagan Gaeilge's grandam Teacht An Earraig was a Bolger winner, and is by star stallion Galileo.
Leagan Gaeilge is herself by Bolger's stallion Vocalised and following her debut win today, jockey Manning said “she’s done that well from a wide draw. She kept galloping up the straight, and should be a nice filly for the future.
“She’s been doing it nice at home but she had such a bad draw and we weren’t sure about that real testing going. The penny dropped with her in the last 200 yards and she’s done it well. I think she will appreciate better ground.”
