Machnamh (7/4f) got off the mark at the seventh attempt in the Curragh's concluding Barberstown Castle Irish EBF Maiden today, scoring for breeder/trainer Jim Bolger, his wife owner Jackie Bolger and jockey Rory Cleary.
The Teofilo-filly, with Bolger breeding on both parent's side, chased leader Perfect Poise and while under pressure two furlongs out, eventually wore down the leader and held runner-up Dagoda by three-parts of a length.
Afterwards trainer Bolger reported “she's holding her form well, she's very honest. I think she goes on any ground. She'll probably go handicapping and then we'll be looking to get a bit of black-type, I think she will too.
“I might keep her in training next year - I'd say there is improvement to come.”
