Bolger doubles up in Plate Trial
Jockey Mark Bolger recorded the first double of his career when steering Tajweed to win the www.tote.com Galway Plate Trial Handicap Chase at Tipperary this afternoon.
Bolger, 23 and based with Jessica Harrington, had earlier steered Paradis De Thaix to win and doubled up on Tajweed who survived one bad mistake before eventually defeating Sea Stallion by two lengths.
Winning trainer Luke Comer was represented by his son of the same name who mentioned that Tajweed, which has just 7st05lbs in the Galway Plate, “we’ll have to wait for next year for it! He might run on the Flat at Galway instead.”
Oddly, for a trial, today’s race (for horses rated 0-130) falls well below the standard set for the actual Galway Plate, with any horse rated 130 currently on just 9st05lbs for the Galway showpiece.
