Bold Thady Quill recorded his first win since March of 2013 (28 runs ago) as he just hung on to win the Online & Mobile Betting thetote.com Handicap under Shane Foley for Ken Condon.
The eight-year-old son of Tale Of The Cat finished a good second to Great Minds in the Listed Cork Stakes earlier in the month but he disappointed last time out again at Cork.
Sent off a 14/1 chance today he was settled towards rear before improving to challenge from two furlongs out.
He got to the front over a furlong out and he kept on well under pressure from there, just holding off Intense Style by a short head.
The runner-up was returned at 12/1 under Kevin Manning for Jim Bolger while Texas Rock was a further neck back in third under Niall McCullagh for Michael Grassick at 20/1. Vitally Important was sent off the 3/1 favourite and he finished a disappointing ninth while the well-backed Maskoon (10/1 to 5/1 on-course) was eighth.
Ken Condon said afterwards: "I know I'm biased but if any horse deserved it then he did. It's two years and a lot of runs since he won. He was second in a Listed race at Cork earlier this month and got put up 5lb. It's a career best to do that off 99.
"Shane said he likes that ground and travelled well into the race. In fact he felt he got there a bit too soon.
"Success Days is due to work in the morning. He will probably go for the Derby Trial (at Leopardstown). We'll see what the weather is like."
