Boland's survives scare on the run-in
16/1 outsider Boland's Corner survived a scare at the last as he ran on strongly to take the 2m 6f Oakbruce Properties Handicap Hurdle for his trainer Ruaidhri Tierney.
The 6yo son of Fraam took up the running approaching the straight and was well clear as he jumped the last. However he collided with the rail on the run-in and his rider David Splaine done very well to keep their partnership in tact. Dapper Dan finished best of the rest eight lengths back in second at 25/1 with Get In There a further three and a half lengths back in third at 7/1. Coole Avenue at 6/1 completed the placings a further two and a half lengths back in fourth while the 9/2 favourite Seaside Shuffle finished a disappointing tenth.
Winning trainer Ruaidhri Tierney said afterwards: "The syndicate (the De Courcey Racing Club) are an eight member and they have been very loyal to me over the last four to five years.
"David (Splaine) said he didn't see the rail as he had his head down driving him out.
"I have no plans for him now we will see what the handicapper does with him.
"In time he will make a nice chaser as he has school very well at home.
"He is a good tough horse who we should have fun with over the winter."
