Bog War is proving a grand servant to connections and recorded his fourth success in under 18 months when taking the Summer Evening Racing At Fairyhouse Handicap Hurdle.

The Liam Cusack-trained gelding landed a similar event at Navan last month under David Mullins, and the combination scored again in very convincing fashion.

The talented teenager sent the five-year-old gelding to the front at the penultimate flight, and the heavily-backed 9/4 favourite (4/1 this morning) quickly strode clear to settle the issue before the final flight.

Topweight Definite Earl stayed on to get within four and a half lengths at the line, with Safe Home another half-length away in third and Tempo Mac in fourth.

Cusack said, "He's a grand little horse and is game out. I was going to go to Punchestown but thought he might not get in. If he's okay in the morning he'll get an entry for the opportunity race at Punchestown.

"They did a great job with the ground tonight. I walked it and it's genuine good ground and very safe."
