Bobby K (11/2) came from well off the pace to land the first division of the 7f handicap at Listowel.
Eventual fourth Mary Salome and Drombeg Duke were prominent throughout and had a good tussle up the straight but their exertions told in the final furlong as the Michael O'Meara-trained winner, four times successful on all-weather tracks, finished strongly to lead close home.
It was a first success on turf for the seven-year-old by Dabirsim.
He scored by half a length from Drombeg Duke with Macadam's Rock another neck away in third.
Winning rider Declan McDonogh said: “I got wiped out after about a furlong. There was bad interference and I got badly checked.
“I had to give him time to warm to it and he didn’t move great early. When I turned at the four (furlongs out) he just jumped onto it and changed his legs. He started to move much better and then he rattled home.
“This place probably didn’t suit him as you have to get a position and he doesn’t like to be shoved. He quickened good.”
