Boadicea Belle landed the Leopardstown Golf And Driving Range Handicap, less than 24-hours on from finishing down the field at Limerick yesterday.
Sent off a joint-favourite at Greenmount Park, the Matthew Smith-trained bay was pushed along from the stalls and didn't have much luck in running, eventually finishing eleventh.
Returned a 5/1 chance, the 55-rated victor was much quicker from the stalls this evening and tracked the leaders under Declan McDonogh.
Pushed along in third entering the straight, the Holy Roman Emperor five-year-old was ridden to challenge over a furlong from home and soon gained a narrow lead, going on to prevail by half-a-length in the colours of the Yussa Syndicate.
With Siobhan Rutledge aboard, Navorrosse (18/1) filled the runner-up spot, while Half Nutz (4/1 from 10s early), who had no luck in-running, was just a head away in third.
The Paul Flynn-trained Lauroline was returned the 7/2 favourite and she faded inside the final furlong, eventually finishing fifth.
While coming with what looked a strong run on the inner under Chris Hayes, Saffredi was badly short of room from the furlong pole and was soon eased.
"She didn't get much of a look last night, she wasn't out very quick and a few came in on top of her," said Smith.
"She didn't really get much of a run and she was declared again today, she was fine this morning so we said why not.
"That's her first win on the grass, she had three wins on the all-weather in England and won at Dundalk back in April.
"I thought she ran a great race in the Curragh where she was drawn very wide. She was there at the furlong pole and I'd say she just didn't see out the mile at the Curragh. She finished eighth but was only beaten about two-and-a-half lengths.
"I thought she'd run a big race last night but it just didn't happen. Declan was good and strong on her there and I'm delighted.
"She's been in good form since she came back this season."
STEWARDS REPORTS
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident almost a furlong from the finish involving Saxon Kingdom ridden by Amy Jo Hayes, placed fourth, and Saffredi (GB), ridden by C.D. Hayes, unplaced, where it appeared that Saffredi ran short of room on the rail and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned, in the presence of M.C. Grassick, who accompanied Amy Jo Hayes during her evidence. C.D. Hayes stated that his mount was a difficult ride having ran very keen. He further stated that when a gap appeared on the rail he committed to it, but could see that it was going to close and he took back to avoid an incident. Amy Jo Hayes stated that she was unaware that Saffredi was making a run down the rail, but accepted that interference was caused. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Amy Jo Hayes was in breach of Rule 214 (careless riding) and having considered her record, (fourth offence) they suspended her for 12 racedays.
S. O'Callaghan, rider of Mullacash Buzz trained by Thomas Dowling, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was slowly away from the stalls.
D.P. McDonogh, rider of Boadicea Belle, trained by Matthew J. Smith, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left inside the last furlong.
C.D. Hayes, rider of Saffredi (GB), trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran very keen and had to take a check in the straight.
